Baby acne home remedy

Baby acne is common among babies and the condition usually resolves on its own in a matter of a few weeks or months. The main thing to remember is that baby’s skin must be kept clean. Clean baby’s skin with a gentle baby soap and warm water. Pat dry the skin. Avoid using over the counter medications, lotions and powders. Some home remedies may help treat the condition. Mix a tea spoon of honey with a tea spoon of lemon juice. Apply it over the affected area and leave it for 30 minutes. Clean the area with a cotton swab dipped in warm water. Some people suggest applying breast milk over the affected area. Leave it for 15 minutes and wash with warm water and pat dry.

Do not use greasy oils and creams on baby’s skin as this can worsen the condition. Remember to wipe baby’s face with a moist cloth after feedings. Wipe away baby’s drool and excess saliva. These can trigger an outbreak of rashes. The mother’s diet should be rich in fruits, vegetables, fiber and water. A healthy diet for the mother may help ease acne in baby. Wash baby’s clothes, bed sheets and pillow covers using a mild detergent. Harsh detergents can trigger an outbreak of rashes.
